Chill Subs Looking to Hire Three Interns For Spring 2027

By:
Christine Lasek-White

Chill Subs - The Place for Writers is an organization headquartered in Savannah that has created tools and resources for writers looking to publish their work. Some of these resources include a database of 400+ publications accepting submissions, a jobs board, and a living feed of funding opportunities, just to name a few.

Chill Subs has partnered with the Publishing Certificate at UGA to offer the below internships during the spring 2027 semester. Students hired for these remote opportunities will concurrently register for FCID 4100: Humanities Internship class, which counts for three upper-division credits, Experiential Learning, and also satisfies the Practice of Publishing area of the Publishing Certificate.  More information about the class, including the dates/times/locations of the four mandatory class sessions, is available here.

The three roles include:

Content Production Intern

Our Content Production intern will own the editorial pipeline for Chill Subs' blog from idea to publication. Each week, the intern will research and pitch five post concepts to our web content lead, develop two selected pieces, and publish them on the site. The role also involves working directly with our social media manager to shape distribution and marketing strategy for some of the pieces.

MFA Partnership Program Intern

Our MFA Partnership Program is only a year old, which means it's still taking shape and this intern will help it grow. The role combines research, data analysis, and marketing: researching creative writing programs and competitor offerings, analyzing the partnership's reach and impact, drafting one-page data sheets for current partners, writing newsletters in Substack, and producing outreach materials.

Lit Bridge Pilot Program Intern

Chill Subs is partnering with Lit Bridge on a school pilot that helps international student writers submit their work to publications. This intern will assist in developing the Chill Subs side of it: researching literary magazines and contests open to writers under 18, compiling their guidelines and requirements, and turning that research into student-facing materials like formatting guides, cover letter templates and submission checklists.

Applications are due by Monday, November 2nd.
