Graduate Student Award Competition

Attention UGA graduate students: a competition sponsored by the Provost’s Office, the Graduate School, and the Office of the Vice President for Research, the university will select a particularly promising graduate student for an award to attend the 10-week experience at Singularity University (SU) this coming summer.

The competition submission deadline is March 21, 2012.  Interviews with the finalists will be held April 10, 2012, 1:00-4:00 pm.  Complete eligibility requirements, application information, and submission instructions can be found on the Graduate School website.

One of our current UGA graduate student in biochemistry and molecular biology, Kausar Samli, attended SU in 2010.  Conversations between SU and UGA have led to an annual selection of a UGA graduate student to attend the SU summer program.  Samli, who attended SU in 2010, will host four information sessions for interested students to learn more about the experience and the application process.  All sessions will cover similar information; choose the one that is most convenient for you.

Four informational workshops are scheduled with Kausar Samli, ksamli@uga.edu, SU10 Alumnus:

This year’s UGA selection process will be based in part on the ability of students to write a compelling essay that describes a creative solution to the following challenge:

“How can we improve the standard of living – health, education, and the environment – of 1 million people in the next 10 years, in Georgia and the Southeast, through the use of technology?”
