Portuguese, the fifth most common language in the world, is available as a Romance Languages-Portuguese major and as a minor. At the graduate level, UGA offers a Master’s and PhD in Portuguese. 

One of the highlights of majoring in this language at UGA is the immersive experience offered by the federally-funded Portuguese Flagship Program. Flagship graduates go on to have jobs in public service, working in positions critical to US national security and economic development throughout the Federal Government.
