Melissa Roberts

Associate Director of Development

Melissa Roberts joined Franklin College's Office of Development in 2022. Her focus is to manage major gift fundraising efforts that support Performing Arts at UGA, including Hugh Hodgson School of Music, Theatre and Film Studies and the Department of Dance. She also supports Native American Studies, Institute of African American Studies, Latin American and Caribbean Studies and African Studies. She serves as an Adjunct Instructor in UGA's Dance Department. Previously, she was the Executive Director of a large nonprofit, Canopy Studio.  At Canopy, she focused on fundraising, grant efforts, and teaching curriculum while also interfacing with an active Board of Directors to advance the nonprofit's mission. Prior to that role, Melissa led a large grant partnership in UGA's College of Environment and Design’s Center for Community Design and Preservation. Melissa received her Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science from Furman University in 1999 and a Master’s from the University of Georgia in Historic Preservation in 2001. When she's not supporting the arts at UGA, she enjoys teaching and performing all things aerial dance, trail running, and spending time with her young sons.
