Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus: Messiah

Brighten your Holiday Season with this rare opportunity to enjoy the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in a performance of the “Christmas” portion and the “Hallelujah Chorus” from George Frederic Handel’s Messiah. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Director of Choruses Norman Mackenzie will be on the podium for this concert that opens with another choral favorite, Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria.

State Ballet Theatre of Russia: The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker is the perennial favorite of generations of children and “children at heart.” The treasured holiday adventure follows a little girl’s journey through a fantasy world of fairies, princes, toy soldiers, and an army of mice. Thrill to the same authentic Russian choreography that is performed in Moscow by the famous Bolshoi Ballet. Set to Tchaikovsky’s beloved music, including “Waltz of the Flowers, "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” and “Waltz of the Snowflakes,” the entire family will love this magical experience filled with spectacular sets and beautiful costumes.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra: New Year’s Eve Concert

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra returns to Athens for a special, fun-filled New Year’s Eve concert. The ninety-minute concert begins at 7 p.m., so attendees will be out early enough to enjoy any other traditional activities.

Fall 2016 Graduate Commencement

The 2016 Fall Graduate ceremony will be held December 16 at 2:30 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum. Doors are open an hour and a half prior to the events. The ceremonies will be broadcast live on Channel 15 of the University Cable System and Channel 181 of the Charter Cable System. It also will be streamed live here. Tickets are required for the undergraduate ceremony and are not required for the graduate ceremony.

The graduate Commencement will feature UGA alumna Tonya H. Cornileus, vice president of learning and organizational development at ESPN. 

Fall 2016 Undergraduate Commencement

The 2016 Fall undergraduate ceremony exercises will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 9:30 am in Stegeman Coliseum. The Graduate ceremony will be held later that day at 2:30 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum. Doors for both ceremonies open an hour and a half prior to the events. The ceremonies will be broadcast live on Channel 15 of the University Cable System and Channel 181 of the Charter Cable System.
