Artist's Talk: Cheryl Goldsleger

Currently the Morris Eminent Scholar in Art at Augusta University, artist Cheryl Goldsleger has had work in exhibitions at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C, the American Academy in New York, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, the Brooklyn Museum, the National Museum of Women in the Arts and many other institutions. She has two works currently on display at the Georgia Museum of Art.

Trans-Affirming Practice in Education and the Helping Professions

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will be facilitiating a day-long workshop on trans-affirming practices for educators and helping professionals. In this training, participants will review foundational knowledge related to Trans-affirming terminology and best practices for creating an affirming environment for trans and non-binary students, clients, and colleagues within professions and the community.

There are three modules in this workshop:

Southeast Quantum Computing Workshop

We are pleased to announce the Second Southeast Quantum Computing Workshop, to be held at the University of Georgia, Athens, on May 18, 2018. The workshop will have APS-style talks and will cover all  aspects of quantum computing and quantum information science. To assure an informal and highly interactive setting, space is limited and pre-registration is required. Conference attendance is free.

Museum Mix

The museum’s thrice-annual late-night art party features a live DJ, free refreshments and galleries open until 11 p.m. Free admission.

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra: The Four Seasons

Antonio Vivaldi’s four concertos, known as The Four Seasons, are among the world’s best-loved compositions. Each concerto represents one of of the four seasons of the year. The plucked strings in “Winter” suggest the cold rain. There is a thunderstorm in “Summer,” and even a barking dog in “Spring.” The ASO’s associate concertmaster Justin Bruns will be the violin soloist.

 

Legion Pool Open

Legion Pool, a community fixture for nearly 80 years, opens for the summer season. Pool admission is open to UGA students, faculty and staff as well as members of the “Friends of Campus Life.”

Hours are 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. daily through July 31 and 3-7 p.m. August 1-9.

“Friends of Campus Life” memberships are available at the Dean of Students Business Office in the Tate Student Center.
