BTE Experience: A Celebration of Diversity

The UGA Black Theatrical Ensemble presents A Celebration of Diversity, a three-day festival at the Morton Theatre in downtown Athens that will be a showcase of multiple different organizations and performers across campus to celebrate the arts:

April 6: Celebration Kickoff will begin the festival and will entail an art/fashion exposition as well as a tabling opportunity for all organizations participating in the festival. Admission is free, but attendees must pick up ticket from Tate Box Office.

April 7: "Celebration of Theatre" is night one and will include performances of monologues, spoken word, skits, etc.

April 8: "Celebration of Dance" is night two of the festival and will showcase dance performances.

April 9: "Celebration of Music" is the final night and will encompass any musical/vocal performances.

Tickets are $5 (One Night: Student), $8 (One Night: Non-student), $12 (Festival Price (all three nights): Student), $20 (Festival Price [all three nights]: Non-student) can be purchased here.

The ensemble endeavors to shed perspective on the black experience and to preserve the legacy of Afro-centric theater through the production of plays, one acts, monologues, poems and other literary works written by black authors and playwrights. In two major productions and several minor productions per academic year BTE gives UGA students (not limited to theatre or performance majors) the opportunity to cultivate their theatrical abilities and a critical role in exposing auditions to cultural enrichment.
