The theme for this year’s conference is Religion and Sustainable Socio-Cultural and Economic Development within the 21st Century in Africa and Its Diaspora.  This year’s conference honors Ibigbolade Aderibigbe, UGA Professor Emeritus of Religion and African Studies, and BICAID co-convener from 2012 to 2021. Featured speakers at the conference will include the Keynote speaker, Professor Danoye Oguntola-Laguda, Department of Religion and Peace Studies, Lagos State University, Nigeria and a lead paper presenter, Wunpini Mohammed, Assistant Professor of Entertainment & Media Studies in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The conference will also feature a plenary panel on Aderibigbe’s scholarship and presentation of a festschrift edited by two of his former students. UGA Professor of Religion and former head of the department of Religion Sandy Martin will be the book discussant.

BICAID 2023 is free and open to UGA faculty, staff and graduate students but registration is required. The conference program and registration links are available at https://asi.uga.edu/bicaid2023
