Call for fellowship applications: Berlin Seminar in Transnational European Studies

The Franklin College and the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts invite applications for fellowships as part of a new professional development initiative, the Berlin Seminar in Transnational European Studies:

The seminar is open to advanced PhD students and faculty of all ranks and from all disciplines at the University of Georgia. It is a joint initiative in partnership with the University of Notre Dame and made possible through generous support by the Max Kade Foundation.

The one-week seminar will take place in Berlin and feature distinguished speakers with expertise in German and European politics, economics, history, literature or the arts. Speakers will give lectures in morning sessions and work with seminar participants on pre-assigned readings in the afternoon. The seminar will also use the city of Berlin as a location exemplifying transnational Europe and the program will include short excursions and the attendance of cultural events.

The goal of the seminar is to expand knowledge and understanding of transnational Europe among U.S. based scholars, advancing the discourse on campus on issues related to Europe, the EU, and Germany’s role in the European Union. 

There may be not be a more important time to visit one of the wolrd's most beautiful cities and learn about Europe and the world than right now. This extraordinary opportunity for graduate students is the result of a collaboration between distinguished faculty at UGA and Notre Dame who share a vision for Europe and for graduate education.
